Cut Loose (Scent) – Limited Edition Linocut Print of Rescue Dog
Cut Loose (Scent) is a limited edition handmade linocut print celebrating the joy of fresh beginnings and the bond between human and dog. The artwork features Bruce, a beloved rescue dog, alongside a figure in brogues and tweed trousers, symbolising freedom, companionship, and stepping into the fragrant air of new possibilities.
This heartfelt piece was inspired by a personal story: when I won a workplace bonus ball lottery, I used the winnings to adopt Bruce from St. Francis Animal Welfare in Fair Oak. After retiring from teaching, I created this print as a farewell gift for my colleagues and a tribute to moving forward with both excitement and uncertainty.
Exhibited at The Society of Wood Engravers Travelling UK Exhibition 2024, the work balances humour with poignancy, capturing the bittersweet mix of freedom, farewell, and hope for what lies ahead.
