Notes on a Walk developed from sketchbook drawings made after walking a familiar circuit through local streets and parkland. The painting draws on the shapes of fields, rising ground and features along the route, bringing them together in an abstract composition.
I worked with broad acrylic brushwork, sgraffito, acrylic pen and translucent glazing. Greens and dark tones sit against a fluorescent pink ground, contrasting the forms of the landscape with the colours used to describe it.
