Cut Loose
Three-colour hand-printed linocut | Edition of 30 | Image 21 × 15 cm | Paper 29.7 × 21 cm | Signed, titled and numbered | Unframed
Cut Loose shows Bruce, the rescue dog I adopted from St Francis Animal Welfare, alongside a figure wearing brogues and tweed trousers. The print grew out of my decision to retire from teaching and the mixed feelings that came with moving on. I gave copies to colleagues as farewell gifts.
I carved the image into lino and printed it by hand in three colours—mustard, teal and purple—on recycled 140gsm acid-free paper. Bruce points the way out into the open air, reflecting the idea of moving on to something new.
Exhibited: Ironbridge Printmaking Competition, 2025.
The print is supplied unframed, protected with glassine tissue and a biodegradable sleeve, and sent in sturdy tracked and insured packaging.
